Why Now?
Asian Americans are the fastest-growing racial group in the U.S. electorate. This growth means our votes are increasingly influential, especially in swing states and competitive districts. Yet, despite being one of the most economically successful and highly educated groups in America, Asian Americans have long been sidelined by both parties’ outreach. Recent surveys show that over 40% of Asian American voters say no one from either party has ever contacted them. There is no strong, nationwide grassroots movement dedicated to mobilizing the Asian American vote.
Most prominent Asian American political advocacy groups lean heavily to the left. While a majority of Asian Americans still vote Democratic today, our community is far from a monolithic liberal bloc. Asian Americans are a community rooted in conservative values — strong family bonds, meritocracy, entrepreneurship, and respect for law and order. Again and again, left-wing policies have proven incompatible with these values: from the exclusion of Asian Americans in fair college admissions, to the decriminalization of looting and shoplifting that has devastated Asian-owned businesses, to the push for socialism — the very ideology many Asian immigrants fled to seek freedom in America.
In recent elections, we have seen encouraging signs of Asian Americans shifting to the right. But this shift remains modest, even though our community has been among the hardest hit by disastrous Democratic policies. The widening gap between left-wing policies and the priorities of Asian American families presents a clear opportunity: a dedicated, year-round grassroots organization can fill this void and give Asian American conservatives a voice. Even the Republican National Committee has recognized this need, launching community centers in places like Westminster, CA, to reach out to Asian voters. But these efforts highlight what’s still missing — a true grassroots Asian American conservative movement that advocates for policies reflecting our community’s values and aspirations.
